Harold C. Schmidt, 92, of North Haven, passed away peacefully on Sept. 24 at Yale-New Haven Hospital/St. Raphael’s campus. He was the beloved husband of almost 50 years to the late Ina-Mae Engels Schmidt, who passed away twenty days ago. Harold was born in Brooklyn, New York, on Jan. 15, 1926, the son of the late Harold P. Schmidt and Emma Rahn Schmidt Stewart.
He served his country faithfully in the US Army Air Corps during WWII. Harold was an accountant, having worked for Borden and Guida Dairies. He was an avid bowler and was very active with many rabbit associations throughout New England.
He was the father of Patrick (Charlotte) Schmidt, Louis (Joan) Schmidt, Patricia (Bruce) Sakowicz, and Gladys Sakowicz. He is also survived by six grandchildren and also great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted in North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Ave. on Oct. 1 with the Rev. Scott Morrow officiating. Family and friends called until time of service.
