Virginia “Ginny” Foote Berniere, 86, died peacefully on Sept. 26 at the Whitney Center, Hamden. She was the wife of the late North Haven Police Chief Leno T. Berniere. Born in North Haven on July 13, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Dorothy Lowe Foote.
Ginny was the original receptionist for the Town of North Haven for 33 years until her retirement.
She was predeceased by her sister Barbara Nelson. She was the mother of Robin (Salvatore) Barbagallo of Plainville, Roger (Mary Ellen) Bailey of North Haven, Becky Bailey Isom (Rick) of Sarasota, Florida, Sheila (Charlie) DeMartino, Nancy (Skip) Raffile of North Haven, and Patti (Jim) Gray of Moultonborough, New Hampshire. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted in the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Ave. on Sept. 30 at 6:00 p.m. with the Rev. Scott Morrow officiating. Family and friends may call from 3:00 p.m. until the time of the service at 6:00 p.m. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
