Norma (Britton) Motta, longtime resident of Centerbrook, passed away peacefully with loving family by her side on July 23 after a short illness. The daughter of the late Albert and Ellia (Sly) Britton, Norma was born June 21, 1928, in Shelbyville, Indiana, and lived in the Midwest through high school.
On July 27, 1945, she married the late Edward Motta and together with their children they relocated to the Northeast, finally settling in Deep River and Essex. Prior to retirement, Norma worked for many years at Finast supermarket in Deep River. Norma was full of spirit and proud of her Native American heritage. She enjoyed embroidery, Word Seek/Find-a-Word puzzle magazines, collecting roosters, and spending time with her family.
In addition to her husband, Norma is predeceased by her grandson Wallace Luce II and her brothers Richard Britton and Albert Britton, Jr. She is survived by her sister Lois Talley of Florida; her children and their spouses, William and Lillian Motta of Clinton, Ellia and Louis Mozzochi of Deep River, Albert and Diane Motta of Deep River, and Peggy and Wally Luce of Linesville, Pennsylvania; grandchildren James (Joan) Luce, Maureen (Vinny) Zarrella, Angela (Nate Millette) Mozzochi, Lorraine (Mike) Doss, Sheri (Chris) Pullen, Louis Mozzochi, Jr., Kimberly (Terries Thompson) Motta, and William (Jackie) Motta, Jr.; as well as several great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on July 28, with a memorial service immediately following at the Robinson, Wright & Weymer Funeral Home in Centerbrook. A private burial will be held at a later date.
