Salvatore “Red” Nuzzo, 71, of East Haven, passed away peacefully on Feb. 8 at Yale-New Haven Hospital/St. Raphael’s campus, with his family by his side. He was the beloved husband of 46 years to Natalie Aiello Nuzzo. Red was born in New Haven on Dec. 10, 1946, the son of the late Salvatore Nuzzo and Lucille Pisacano Lawrence.
He had worked for Connecticut Container Corporation for 35 years until his retirement as a traffic manager. Red was an avid Boston Red Sox fan.
He was the father of Salvatore Nuzzo, Jr., Jacquelyn (Bill) Carbone, and Samantha Nuzzo. He was the grandfather of Kelso and Meadow Carbone, Lucianna and Isabella Nuzzo, and the late Luciano Nuzzo. He was the brother of Richard (Betsy) Nuzzo, Denise (Cliff) Castellano, and the late Dennis Nuzzo. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
His funeral procession left the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Ave., on Feb. 12. A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated in Our Lady of Pompeii Church. Interment followed in All Saints Cemetery. The visiting hours were held Feb. 11. For an online obituary, visit www.northhavenfuneral.com.
