Jacques P. Schingh, 65, of North Haven passed away peacefully at Yale-New Haven Hospital on Feb. 12 with his family by his side. He leaves behind his lifelong soulmate of 43 years, Constance Smith Schingh. Jacques was born in Hull, Quebec, Canada, the son of the late Emery and Juliette Anderson Schingh.
He was an active member of the Church of the Resurrection in Wallingford, where he served as a Eucharistic minister and helped count church donations. Jacques enjoyed playing golf with his wife in their league at Sleeping Giant golf course, cooking with family in their “Family Chopped Cook Offs,” cheering on University of North Carolina men’s basketball team, and most of all watching his grandchildren Landon and Weston Huggins, whom he loved unconditionally. He most recently worked as a credit manager for Osterman & Company.
He was the father of Brandon Schingh (fiancée Jamie Pinkussohn), Lauren Mauter (Ryan), and Christina Huggins (Robert). He was the brother of Helene Schingh and Nicole Shimshock (Gene).
Family and friends are invited to go directly to Church of the Resurrection, 115 Pond Hill Rd., Wallingford, on Feb. 16 at 11:00 a.m. to attend a Mass of Christian burial. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. The visiting hours will be Feb. 15 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Ave. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Closer to Free Fund, Smilow, P.O.
