Marion Kranichfeld died peacefully at home in Guilford on Aug. 29. Marion was born in Flushing, New York, on May 14, 1928. Marion was married to Henry C. Kranichfeld, Jr., in 1950 at 21 years of age, and had four children by the age of 27.
In addition to her role as wife and mother, she earned a B.A. in liberal arts from the College of New Rochelle in New York, and worked as an art therapist at Rye Psychiatric Hospital and St. Vincent’s Psychiatric Hospital, both in Westchester, New York. Marion was a practicing artist with shows in various venues throughout Westchester, and she also taught art classes privately. Her creativity took form in various mediums, but the most common was watercolor painting.
Marion was predeceased by her parents Frank and Violet Bauer; her siblings George and Robert Bauer and Eleanor Cardone; her husband Henry C. Kranichfeld, Jr.; and son Henry C. Kranichfeld III.
Marion’s surviving family includes daughters Carol Ehmann of Chittenden, Vermont, and Mimi Kranichfeld of Guilford; son Robert Kranichfeld of Staatsburg, New York; and her grandchildren Camden Rainwater, Evan and Beth Ehmann of Killington, Vermont, Emily McGrath of Santa Clara, California, and Bram, Oliver, and Andrew Kranichfeld of Burlington, Vermont.
