Albert (Popeye) Joyal passed away on May 9 at Middlesex Hospital in Middletown. He was a resident of Westbrook for many years and was known and loved by many. Albert was born in Lawrence, Massachusetts, Sept. 1, 1932.
He was a brother of the Sacred Heart order in Rhode Island for 25 years before deciding to leave. Popeye was a dedicated member of the Westbrook Veterans Honor Guard in Westbrook for more than 10 years, completing more than 500 military funerals.
He is survived by three sisters, Vivian Lejeune of Ledgewood, New Jersey; and Collette Robichaud and Anne Brunelle of Pawtucket, Rhode Island. He was predeceased by Rita Sherlock, Pauline Barrette, Jean Joyal, Helen Geoffroy, and Armand J. Joyal.
He will surely be missed by all.
