Virginia James Place, 80, of North Haven passed away peacefully on July 7 at her home with her family by her side. She was the beloved wife of 60 years to the late John R. Place. Virginia was born in Manchester on Dec. 18, 1936, and was the daughter of the late Albert A. and Doris Rogers James.
She was a longtime member of the Pattaconk Yacht Club, and an avid Boston Red Sox and UConn women’s basketball fan.
She was the aunt of Susan (John) Rosadini, Deborah (Jerry) Ruocco, Donna James, Eileen (Matthew) Ouellette, and the late Kathryn James Baker, whom she raised as daughters. She was the great-aunt of John, Kevin, Lauren, and Brian Rosadini; Michelle Ruocco; and Kelsey (Christina) and Megan Ouellette. She is also survived by several other nieces and nephews, and will be missed dearly by her dog Heidi. She was predeceased by her sisters Janet Heffernan, Constance Lingo, and Warren, Donald, and Roger James.
Family and friends called July 11 at the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Ave. Funeral services and interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
