Leona C. Huminski, 96, of Madison passed away June 25 at Yale-New Haven Hospital. She was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, June 9, 1921, the daughter of the late Walter and Julia Kryzminski. She was the wife of the late Edmund A. Huminski.
She attended and graduated high school in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; she also studied and worked as a hair dresser before becoming a mother and housewife.
She is survived by her five children, Joyce Mastrachio of Clinton, Nancy J. Hartzell and life partner Roland Ferrera of Madison, Kenneth Huminski and partner Peggy Schoen of Madison, Barry Huminski of Cheshire, Michael Huminski of Madison, and loved daughter-in-law Peggy Huminski of Madison. She is also survived by her eight grandchildren, Louis Mastrachio, Luanne (Mastrachio) Carbone, Jessica (Hartzell) Neligon, Timothy Huminski, Eric Huminski, Emily Huminski, Michael Huminski, and Mark Huminski. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren Jeffrey Carbone, Jamie Carbone, Daniel Carbone, Heather Huminski, Edmund Huminski, Mary Huminski, Noah Huminski, and Eric Huminski.
Calling hours will be held at Swan Funeral Home in Madison June 29 from 5 to 8 p.m., and burial will be at Shrine of the Apostles, All Saints Cemetery, North Haven, on June 30 after a Mass of Christian burial at St. Margaret’s Church in Madison at 10 a.m.
Leona was fortunate in living such a long and loving life while constantly caring for and being involved in family.
