New Haven

Thomas Beirne, 58, of New Haven passed away March 25 at Connecticut Hospice with his family and friends by his side. He was born June 3, 1958, in New Haven to Douglas Beirne and Joanne (Oldoni) Cathey.

Thomas is survived by his mother Joanne (Beirne) Cathey (Frank) of East Haven; loving wife of 27 years Mary (Criscuolo) Beirne; and four daughters, Nina Fronte of North Branford, Allie Fronte of East Haven, Tamra Beirne of Florida, and Nikki Fronte of New Haven. He is also survived by his two grandchildren, Arianna Camacho and Michael Goodmaster, Jr.; sisters Regina Parillo (Michael) of East Haven and Vanessa Cathey of Branford; and a brother, Anthony Cathey (Dawn) of Hamden. Thomas was uncle to many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Douglas and sister Maura “Mia” (Garmizo) Zukowski.

Tommy was a federal employee with the US Postal Service for 13 years, after which he worked as a leading salesman at Sears. He enjoyed fishing and crabbing the waters of the Long Island Sound, and was a New York Yankee fanatic. Tommy truly enjoyed his classic rock and roll. His favorite activity was spending time with his grandchildren Arianna and Michael. All who came to know Tommy ended up finding a true friend. He will be sorely missed by family and many friends, especially his best friend of many years, Eddy Caruso of New Haven.

The family received friends on April 3 in the Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home, 43 Kirkham Ave., East Haven. Burial was private. For an online obituary, visit www.Clancy-PalumboFuneralhome.com.
