Edward “Ed” Purdie, Jr., 59, died unexpectedly of natural causes on April 21 at his home in Branford, where he was relocating from West Haven. He was the beloved son of Anna Purdie of Branford and the late Edward Purdie, Sr. Ed was born in Glasgow, Scotland, and moved to America in 1966 at the age of 8.
Ed worked at Bayer Laboratories as head supervisor for more that 25 years. He also worked as head supervisor for Gravy Master of Branford for more than six years. In his spare time, Ed loved nothing more than watching soccer and his favorite baseball team, the New York Mets. He was also an avid movie lover.
Besides his mother Ed is survived by his brothers Gavin of Santa Monica, California, and Andrew and his partner Aaron of Las Vegas, Nevada. Ed was a generous, gentle soul who will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
