Native of Clinton and local attorney Arthur C. Schubert, age 88, passed to eternal rest on Feb. 26. He was predeceased by his cherished parents Bruno and Julia O’Leary Schubert of Clinton, and his beloved wife Laura Esposito Schubert, also of Clinton. He is survived by his sister Marie Hanulik; daughter Deidre Lund; and stepchildren Andrea Argyros, Laura Scott, Robert Argyros, and David Argyros. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
A graduate of Morgan High School, Attorney Schubert held a bachelor of arts degree from the University of Connecticut and a doctor of law degree from Boston College Law School. He was employed by Allstate Insurance Co. for 14 years before joining the Clinton law firm of Burnham & Kinsley in 1970. He served with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in Japan during the Korean Conflict.
Attorney Schubert was intimately involved in public life, serving as Democratic Town Chairman at various times. He was a member of the Clinton Board of Finance for 18 years. He served as a trustee of the Morgan School for more than 25 years.
He was also an avid golfer. He served as director, treasurer, vice president, and president of the Madison Country Club, having been a member since 1956. He also served on the Board of Governors and as treasurer at the Clinton Country Club. In addition he was involved for many years in the Lion’s Club.
He will be laid to rest in a private ceremony at the Indian River Cemetery.
