Madison

Barbara Marie D’Alo, 70, Madison, wife of Herbert F. D’Alo for 50 years, passed away after a short and courageous battle with cancer at Connecticut Hospice, with family and loved ones by her side. Barbara was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to her late parents Brownie Griggle and Helen (Koltick) Griggle.

She graduated with honors and earned her RN degree before marrying the love of her life in 1966; she lived in Aberdeen, Maryland, and Chicago, Illinois, before settling in Madison. Barbara and her husband owned a medical device company in Madison, where she worked as the vice president for the last 26 years. Barb was the heart and soul of the company and well-loved by all the people in her life. Barb was a devoted wife and mother who cherished time spent with family. She was the most loving of people who always selflessly cared for others. She will always be remembered for her kind and generous heart, her enormous compassion for others, her incredible zest for life, and her carefree spirit.

In addition to her husband Herb, she is survived by and will be dearly missed by her daughter Melissa D’Alo of Madison; her nieces Bonnie Bock, Beth Bock, and Brandy (Bock) Tott; her nephew Bruce Bock of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; and her sisters-in-law Loretta Lee of Massachusetts and Grace Place of Pennsylvania.

The D’Alo family would like to express their deep gratitude to the Connecticut Hospice staff for their compassionate care, and to her several friends for their many acts of kindness and support during her illness.

Visitation services will be from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Swan Funeral Home in Madison on March 2. The Memorial service will be at 10 a.m. on March 3 at the Swan Funeral Home in Madison, officiated by Rev. Nancy Leckerling and followed by burial at West Cemetery. The family has requested that no flowers or plants be sent. Donations to the charity of your choice in the name of Barbara M. D’Alo will be appreciated.
