Laurie McGuire Romanik, 64, passed away peacefully at her home in Madison Feb. 14, surrounded by her loving family. Laurie was born in New Haven on Dec. 29, 1952, daughter of the late Charles F. McGuire, Jr., and Antoinette (Tessie) Swirsky McGuire.
She was the beloved wife of Tom Romanik for 37 years. She was the loving mother of Sarah Lenington and her husband Doug of East Haven, and grandmother of Audrey Rose Lenington. She was the sister of Tim McGuire and his wife Colleen of Madison; sister-in-law of Susan Scott and her husband Roy; and aunt of Carrie and Chris Scott. In addition to her family, she leaves behind many longtime friends.
Laurie was an elementary school teacher in Branford for many years. Later in life she returned to school and earned her 6th year degree. She was very proud to be a speech and language pathologist at Montowese Elementary School in North Haven, from which she retired. She was a faithful communicant of St. Margaret’s Church in Madison. In addition to her family and friends, she loved shopping, the beach, and M&Ms.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Margaret Church, 24 Academy St., Madison, on Feb. 21 at 10 a.m. Burial will be held privately. Friends may call Feb. 20 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Guilford Funeral Home, 115 Church St., Guilford.
