Marvin Casey, 83, of Guilford passed away on Nov. 20 at Connecticut Hospice, Branford. He was the beloved husband of Anna Marie (Wasinger) Casey for 61 years.
After he served in the Army at Fort Carson in Colorado Springs, Colorado (where he met his wife Ann), he and his wife returned to Connecticut to start their new life. He worked for American Tubending Co., Phelps Dodge, and Cablewave Systems, where he retired after 30 years. After retiring, he and his partners founded E-Z Form Cable Company, where he retired once again.
Marvin loved spending time in his garden and sharing his tomatoes with friends and family. He also spent many hours in his woodworking shop making many wood pictures, toys, and decorations, including a miniature carousel horse and two beautiful train sets. He was a jack-of-all-trades and could fix or repair just about anything. No matter what the project was, he was always there to help.
He was very dedicated to his family and loved spending time with them, and helping them in any way he could. Marvin and his wife Ann would spend every Saturday and Wednesday visiting with their grandsons Mike and Shawn, who both had Duchenne muscular dystrophy. He was a very special man who loved his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandson very much, and will be missed dearly by all.
He is the father of Pete (Sue), Bill (Mimi), and Marvin Casey; the brother of Donald Casey; the grandfather of Shawn, Nicole, Kris, Crystal, Michael, and Jen Casey, and Ashley (Chris) Rhode; and the great-grandfather of Brecken. He was predeceased by his parents Amos and May Casey; his brothers Richard Casey, and Bob and Cliff Newnan; and his grandson Shawn.
Friends are invited to calling hours on Nov. 25 from 4 to 6:30 p.m., followed by a prayer service and Military Honors at 6:30 p.m. at the Guilford Funeral Home, 115 Church St., Guilford.
