Retired NHPD patrolman Franklin G. Johnson, Jr., 78, of Northford passed away peacefully on Oct. 28 at the Connecticut Hospice, Branford, with his family by his side. He was the beloved husband of 60 years to Edeltraud Adamski Johnson. Franklin was born in New Haven on Dec. 31, 1937, son of the late Franklin G. Johnson, Sr. and Roseanne Gunn Johnson.
He served his country faithfully in the US Army, and served 30 years on the New Haven Police Department until his retirement. He was a member of the Pine Grove Men’s Club and the Emerald Society. He enjoyed his summers at his home in Maine, playing cards, hunting, and reading.
He was the father of Marion (David) Parise, Jeannie (William) Klink, Roseanne McCullough, Lori Johnson, and Tracy (Rafael) Diaz. He was the brother of Robert (Patricia) Johnson, Kathryn (Jack) Grant, and Barbara (Anthony) Esposito. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a granddaughter, Shelby Spaulding.
Funeral services will be conducted in the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Ave., Nov. 4 at 11:00 a.m. Interment with full military honors will follow in Northford Cemetery.
