Marjorie Louise Williamson passed peacefully in her 96th year on Oct. 2 in Guilford. She was surrounded by her family and her loving husband Jervis (Jerry) to whom she was married for 73 years. Marjorie was the daughter, born Aug. 25, of Fred and Annie Stedman of Stonington.
Marjorie married Jerry Williamson in 1943 at the Road Church in Stonington, and lived in Mystic and Groton over the next 30 years.
It was there that Marjorie raised her children Doug Williamson, Judy House, and Sheila Santos (Larry), and in time became the proud grandmother to Mark House (Tara), Lauren Santos, and Amanda Santos, and great-grandmother to Jaime, Kyle, Ryan, and Jacob House. She was also aunt to several nieces and nephews.
Marjorie spent many years of her work life as a partner to her husband in his business and ran a small business herself, which she enjoyed. She also spent several years in the design department at General Dynamics, where she excelled and where her long list of friends grew.
In 1992 Marge and Jerry retired to Florida, where they sat under the palms, played golf, and entertained a community of friends, family, and neighbors. In 2007 Marge and Jerry moved back to New England to be close to their children and grandchildren.
Whether as a scout leader, business partner, neighbor, mentor to the young people in her life, or mother, she brought an optimistic and bright view of the world to all. Her friends loved and relied on her ever-present curiosity, wit, and wisdom. An open heart was her constant guide.
She will be missed.
A celebration of life for Marjorie will be held at the North Guilford Congregational Church on Oct. 10 at 10:00 a.m. A reception will follow for all to gather. A short graveside service for the immediate family will take place that day.
