Dante C. Carboni, 88, of North Haven passed away peacefully on Aug. 24 at Yale-New Haven Hospital. He was the beloved husband of 65 years to Marguerite Pelletier Carboni. Dante was born in New Haven on July 17, 1928, son of the late Dante J. and Emilia Vitali Carboni.
He served his country faithfully in the US Army during the Korean war, and worked for Sikorsky Aircraft for many years, retiring as a tech representive. He was a member of the American Legion, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping at Hidden Acres in Preston. He also loved feeding the birds.
He was the father of Danette C. Kennedy and the late Dante C. Carboni II, Dawn Alison Carboni, and Dante C. Carboni III. He was the grandfather of Brian (Kerry) Kennedy and Katherine (Milo) Surdam; and great-grandfather of Mikka Ashland Surdam, Kaya Emily Surdam, Molly Grace Kennedy, and Talia Bridget Surdam. He was the brother of Daniel S. Carboni, Donna Falcone, and the late Diana Barone. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and his dear friends Bill and Cill Migliaccio. He was predeceased by his son-in-law James M. Kennedy, who always held a special place in his heart.
His funeral procession left the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Ave., Aug. 30. A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated in St. Barnabas Church. Interment with full military honors followed in the North Haven Center Cemetery. The visiting hours were held Aug. 29.
