Leonard Donghia, 86, of East Haven passed away peacefully on July 17 at home surrounded by his family. He was born March 1, 1930, in Vandergrift, Pennsylvania, to Peter and Emily (Petrarca) Donghia.
Leonard is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Marie (Arduino) Donghia; and three daughters, Christine Wartko of Hamden, Diane Baker (Richard) of Hamden, and Suzanne Antonucci (Harry) of Hamden. Leonard is also survived by four grandchildren, Michelle Hudnall (Chad), Eric Abernathy, Allie Antonucci, and Vinny Antonucci; and a sister, Antoinette Locorotondo. Leonard is preceded in death by his parents and sister Rose Gardetto.
Leonard was a US Army veteran of the Korean War and retired employee of Sikorsky Aircraft with more than 30 years of service. He was a family man who enjoyed fishing, boating, and golfing. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the American Legion.
The family will receive friends from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. on July 20 at the Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home (Clancy Funeral Home), 43 Kirkham Ave., East Haven. The funeral procession will leave Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home on July 21 at 9:40 a.m. for a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. in St. Clare Catholic Church, 234 Coe Ave., East Haven, with Committal to follow at All Saints Cemetery with Military Honors.
