Dorothy C. Peterson passed away peacefully June 24 at Yale-New Haven Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Clifford Peterson. Prior to marrying Cliff in 1972, Dorothy was married to John Horchner, a young Army officer. Dorothy was born June 22, 1934, daughter of the late Eainer and Bruna Rinaldi Carlson.

She was the beloved mother of Kim Horchner of Madison; and the sister of Barbara Painter of Pine Island, Florida, and Shirley Beckman of Berlin. She is also survived by a cousin, Carol Zaffino of Branford.

Dorothy grew up on a large estate in Bedford Hills, New York, where her parents worked. She enjoyed her memories of the one-room school house and helpingĀ to raise animals. The Petersons shared a love of sports and became avid skiers. They spent much of their time traveling extensively and visiting most of the US National Parks. Most recently Dorothy was an active participant at the Strong House in Madison.

Memorial services were held on July 6 at the Guilford Funeral Home, 115 Church St., Guilford. Friends called prior to the services. Burial took place privately. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Strong House Adult Day Center, 546 Durham Rd., Madison, CT 06443, www.stronghousect.org.
