Charles “Tom” Hamel, 62 years old, passed away Feb. 17, 2016, from cancer.

He was an amiable man who had a gentle sense of humor and many friends throughout the shoreline area. He was well educated in physical oceanography, and became a skilled national and international hydrographic engineer in marine surveys. He also enjoyed crewing in competitive sailboat racing and on and off-the-road cycling.

There will be a gathering Saturday, April 30 from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the Deep River Gazebo at the end of Kirtland St. near the Steam River Boat Landing.

The food is potluck, BYOB. All friends and family are welcome to come and celebrate his life. Rain date is Sunday, May 1.
