Fannie M. Vaccino, 97, of East Haven, died on Nov. 30 at the St. Raphael Campus of Yale-New Haven Hospital. She was the wife of the late Gennaro T. Vaccino. She was born in New York, New York, on July 2, 1918, to the late Rocco and Carmella Laudano Cali.
Her family was always on her mind. She gave of herself in every way, through her love, generosity, joy, and concern for our well-being. Most of all, she was the person you could always count on to lend a helping hand when it was needed the most. Her greatest joy in life was being able to feed us her wonderful cooking, and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The smile she would have when she was with them was priceless. She showed us that family is true happiness and to treasure every moment we spend together. We will never forget the many gifts she gave to us and our thoughts and memories of her will be in our hearts forever.
She is survived by a son, Gene, and his wife Sylvia Vaccino of Guilford; two grandchildren, Jeffrey (Mindy) Vaccino and Lauren (Frank) Connors; and three great-grandchildren, Alexandra (Michael) Fort, Trevor James Vaccino, and Olivia May. She was predeceased by seven brothers and one sister.
Her funeral left the East Haven Memorial Funeral Home, 425 Main St., 203-467-1708, for a Funeral Mass in Our Lady of Pompeii Church. Burial was at St. Lawrence Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Please visit Fannie’s memorial page at easthavenmemorial.com and sign her guest book.
