03/21/2016 12:00 AMJean Lounsbury Rausch passed away March 12 at Connecticut Hospice in Branford. She was born July 29, 1917, in Plainfield, New Jersey, to Fred Clark Lounsbury and Beatrice Miner Lounsbury.
After graduating from Plainfield High School, Jean worked for AT&T in New York City, where she met Charles R. Rausch. They were married in May of 1939. The couple resided for many years in Westfield, New Jersey. During this time, Jean was employed by AT&T in New York City, Hershey’s in Westfield, New Jersey, Kemper Insurance in Summit, New Jersey, and Bell Labs in Warren, New Jersey. Mr. and Mrs. Rausch moved to Marion, Virginia, following retirement, where they lived for five years until Charles passed away in 1981. Jean returned to New Jersey and lived in Whiting until four years ago when she moved to Madison. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church wherever she lived, and most recently, the Presbyterian Church in Lakehurst, New Jersey.
Preceding her in death in addition to her husband were her mother, father, stepmother Viola B.L. Sieder, sister Frances Casazza, and brother Fred Clark Lounsbury, Jr. She is survived by her children Patricia Philson and her husband Rush of Syracuse, Ohio, and Charles “Chip” Rausch and his wife Ann Marie of Madison; grandchildren Erich Philson and his wife Sandy of Gallipolis, Ohio, Sarah Philson Piazza of Pembroke Pines, Florida, Keri LaBianca and her husband Nick of Oahu, Hawaii, and Tim Rausch of Hermosa Beach, California; and great-grandchildren Andrew Philson and his wife Selena of Powell, Ohio, Brittany Philson Crouch of Racine, Ohio, and Kailyn LaBianca of Oahu, Hawaii. Also surviving are her sisters Barbara Tillison, Beverly Garretson, and Dorothy Horton; brother William Lounsbury; and many nieces and nephews.
At Jean’s request there will be no formal services. She will be reunited with her husband in Marion, Virginia, where an informal graveside service will be held at a future date. The family wishes to thank Connecticut Hospice for its kind and compassionate care, and especially Imma for her devoted hospice care during the time Jean was able to stay at home.
