Donald C. Allen, Jr. of North Branford and Punta Gorda, Florida, died Feb. 28 at Connecticut Hospice in Branford. He was the beloved husband of Deborah Wheeler Carofano Allen. Mr. Allen was born in Bridgeport July 18, 1939, son of the late Donald C. Allen, Sr. and Mary Albrecht Allen.
He worked as a lineman and supervisor for the U.I. Co. for 40 years until retiring. Don was a motorcycle enthusiast who enjoyed both working on and riding motorcycles. He was a member of the AMA (American Motorcycle Association) and a member and founder of the Pathfinders. He was a member of the Trumbull TRACK. Don was an active member of the Elks Club and the Moose Lodge in Deep Creek, Florida.
Besides his wife Don is survived by his children Donald J. Allen of Ansonia, John P. (Anne Marie) Allen of New Milford, Glen Allen of Waterford, and Gwen (John) Cook of Shelton; his stepdaughter Denise (Keith) Lebrocquy of Southington; his grandchildren Daniel and Jake Allen of Ansonia, Cole, Jack, and Nicolas Allen of New Milford, and Tyler Lebrocquy of Southington; and his sisters Judy Walker of Sun City Center, Florida, and Debra Kuchinski of Bridgewater. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Paul Allen, and his brother James Allen and brother-in-law Fred Walker.
Don’s family would like to thank the staff at Branford Hills Health Care Center, Ledgewood 3, Ledgewood 2, and Connecticut Hospice for the care and support given to them and Don during his illness.
Friends are invited to a memorial service March 4 at 11:00 a.m. in the W.S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 North Main St., Branford, and may call prior to the service from 10 to 11 a.m. Entombment will follow in All Saints Mausoleum, North Haven.
