Jo-Anne Colburn, 59, of Branford, formerly of East Haven, passed away on Jan. 25. She was born Aug. 5, 1956, in New Haven to the late Joseph and Alice (Guarnieri) Connors.
Jo-Anne is survived by her loving husband of 32 years, Ward Colburn, and two daughters, Joan Colburn of McKinney, Texas, and Bonnie Colburn of Branford.
Jo-Anne graduated from East Haven in 1974 and the University of New Haven in 1978 with a degree in criminal justice. She was an employee of the US Postal Service with more than 40 years of service, rising to executive member of A.P.W.U. Growing up, Jo-Anne played softball and basketball and was a cheerleader in East Haven. One of her favorite spots was “the pit,” where she coached softball. Jo-Anne cherished her family and friends along with her pets and all animals.
The family will receive friends on Jan. 28 at the Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home (Clancy Funeral Home), 43 Kirkham Ave., East Haven, from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. The funeral procession will leave Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home at 10:40 a.m. for a Mass of Christian burial at 11:00 a.m. in St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, 65 Burban Dr., Branford, with Committal to follow at All Saints Cemetery.
