01/20/2016 11:00 PMAlbert Mirto, Sr., 78, of Branford died peacefully at home Jan. 2 surrounded by his loving family. Albert was born in New Haven Feb. 14, 1937, to the late Pasquale and Mary Britotti Mirto.
He worked for Ed-Mor Electric for 37 years. For the past 20 years, Al worked with his son at Total Concept Tool. For many years Albert took great pride in displaying his Christmas Village for his friends and family to enjoy. His display was up for Halloween, much to the delight of the children who visited his home every year. He also enjoyed vacationing in Aruba, watching UCONN women’s basketball, and crabbing.
He met his childhood sweetheart Margaret DeLuca 60 years ago and married her soon after. They had three wonderful children, Linda (Gary) Altieri, Deborah (Steven) Zullo, and Albert Mirto, Jr., whom he loved dearly. He loved and adored his grandchildren Theresa and Maria Altieri, Amanda Zullo, Jessica Mirto, Matthew Altieri, Kimberly Mirto, Albert Mirto III, and the late Michael Altieri. He was predeceased by his sisters Anna “Tess” Raffone, Gloria Mentone, and Lucille Mirto, and brothers Armando and Mario Mirto. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were provided by the Iovanne Funeral Home, Inc., 11 Wooster Pl., New Haven. A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated Jan. 5 in St. Mary’s Church, Branford. Burial followed in St. Agnes Cemetery, Branford. Memorial contributions may be made to Smilow Cancer Hospital, 20 York St., New Haven, CT 06510.
