Guilford

Edward J. Carroll, 73, passed away peacefully on Dec. 14 with his wife Joanne, daughters Kerry and Allison, and sister-in-law Virginia beside him. He was born in the Bronx, New York, on Nov. 21, 1942, to Margaret and Edward Carroll.

He attended Our Lady of Mercy grammar school, and received a scholarship to Regis High School, followed by St. Michael’s. He was a graduate of Fordham University and Fordham Law School. A respected leader and entrepreneur in the relocation industry, Ed was the founder and owner of two national companies, Relocation Realty Services and Closing Corp. of America. He was a proud member of the “Poe Boys,” a band of six lifelong friends, including Tom Byrne, Doug Malin, Pete Gannon, Jim Carter, and Jack O’Connell (deceased). His family, friends, former employees, and later, his caregivers, admired and loved him dearly. They will deeply miss his quick wit and kind, generous heart that touched them all.

In addition to his wife and daughters, Ed is survived by his son-in-law Craig Wiele; three grandchildren, Charlie, Maggie, and Courtney; his sisters Patricia Leedom and Catherine Cherry; his brother Kevin Carroll; as well as two nieces and six nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and firstborn child Sue Lynn.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Dec. 21 at 11:30 a.m. at Saint George Church, 33 Whitfield St. in Guilford, followed by a reception and celebration of Ed’s life in the church hall. Burial at Gate of Heaven cemetery on Dec. 22 will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation to the Branford Hills Memorial Trust Fund, 189 Alps Rd., Branford, CT 06405, in Ed’s memory.
