Mary Lurate, 101, passed peacefully two weeks before her 101st birthday at Andrus on Hudson, Hastings on Hudson, New York. Mary was a long-time resident of Clinton.
Mary was born on Nov. 24, 1914, in Bridgeport. She was adopted in 1916 and raised by Joseph and Florence Castellon of New Haven. She was married to Benjamin Ambrose in 1939, widowed in 1955, remarried to Louis Lurate in 1957, and widowed in 1973.
Mary loved her family and her friends at the Clinton Leisure Club and the club’s trips to the local casinos. She loved to read, knit, and crochet.
Mary is survived by two children, a son, Benjamin Ambrose Jr. of Clinton and a daughter and son-in-law, Jeanne and Fred Blicker of Orlando, Florida. She is survived by six grandchildren, Christopher Blicker, Erik Blicker, Shannon Rooney Blicker, Grant Blicker, Benjamin Ambrose III, and Steven Ambrose. She is also survived by ten great-grandchildren, Max Brutesca, Ryan Blicker, Ella Blicker, Collin Rooney, Mae Rooney, Tessa Rooney, Zachary Blicker, Shane Blicker, Lillie Ambrose, and Levi Ambrose.
A private service was held at Andrus in New York.
