12/13/2015 11:00 PMRose Mary Zatorski Gersz, 87, beloved wife of the late Casimir Gersz, passed away Dec. 8. She was born in New Haven on May 6, 1928, a daughter of the late Charles and Alice Modzelewski Zatorski.
Rose attended Newhallville School and graduated from Hamden High School. She met the love of her life in 1946 and married Cas two years later. They lived happily ever after for 60 years until his death in 2009. Rose was an active member at St. Stanislaus School, which her children attended, and was a devout parishioner for more than 60 years. Rose's greatest passion was her love for her husband and her family. She loved her role as a wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She relished preparing dinner and entertaining on every holiday for her family. Rose will be fondly remembered for her big heart and her everlasting kindness to everyone.
Rose is survived by her loving sons and daughters David Gersz of East Haven, Mark Gersz and wife Pam of Killingworth, Pamela Gersz Losonci of Trumbull, and Gail Gersz Golden and husband Myles of Southport. She was the grandmother of Peter Gersz and wife Jess; Jessie Gersz Palmer and husband Doug; Meryl and Luke Gersz; Shane and Josh Losonci, Taylor Golden and wife Ashley; and Austin, Olivia, and Ava Golden. She was the great-grandmother of Mattie, Willow, and Brody Gersz and Ryan Golden. She was predeceased by her sister Helen Zatorski Kretkewicz, grandson Matthew David Gersz, and son-in-law Tom Losonci.
