Old Saybrook

Jean J. Woodstock, 83, of Old Saybrook, passed away on June 12 peacefully in her sleep surrounded by family. A loving mother, devoted wife, and cherished friend, Jean was predeceased just a month ago by her husband Carl, her best friend, partner, and love of her life. They met in first grade and spent a lifetime together enjoying life, building a family and business, and enjoying travel, home, and friends.

She leaves behind her four children Alison Woodstock of Westbrook, Laurie Woodstock of Old Saybrook, Andrew Woodstock and his wife Rosemarie of Griswold, and Leslie Jermainne and her husband Brian of Old Saybrook; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several lifelong friends. Jean was born in West Haven in 1932 and lived her entire life on the Connecticut shoreline between Clinton and Lyme. She graduated from Morgan High School in 1950, then became a skilled X-ray technician through Meriden Hospital, where she worked until 1957. After starting a family, Jean devoted herself to her children, husband, friends, and home. She was a talented seamstress, gardener, and homemaker. She had a pretty face, an easy laugh, and a gentle soul.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. As was their wish, Jean and Carl’s ashes will now be intermixed and interred so that they may once again be together, their bodies and souls walking together hand in hand through eternity. All are welcome to attend the graveside memorial service on June 22 at 10 a.m. at the Indian River Cemetery in Clinton, followed by a reception at the First Church of Christ Congregational in Clinton.
