Maureen Thomas, 85, died at Middlesex Hospital on June 6. Born in New York City on Oct. 26, 1929, she graduated from Barnard and Hunter Colleges and taught in New York City public schools for five years. With her husband of 63 years, Francis, they settled in Bronxville, New York, for 30 years.
She attended St. Joseph’s Church in Bronxville, was active in Bronxville Women’s League for Services and church organizations. She also enjoyed tennis at the Bronxville Field Club and Bonnie Briar Country Club. She moved to Madison in 1981, where she held active memberships in the Winter Club as well as private bridge clubs, Clinton Country Club, and Madison Country Club.
She is survived by her husband Francis, whom she married Aug. 25, 1951; and children Laura and her daughter Elizabeth; Kathryn, her husband Raymond, and their daughters Alison and Kristen; and son Steven and his wife Arleen, and their children Spencer and Abigal.
