05/07/2015 12:00 AMRichard DeFabio, 90, passed away on April 29 at the Connecticut Hospice, Branford. He was the beloved husband of Frances Laoue DeFabio for 65 years. Born in New Haven on March 1, 1925, he was the son of the late Arthur and Amelia D’Amico DeFabio.
Richard served his country faithfully in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He was a former Grand Knight for the Knights of Columbus of North Haven; he worked for the New Haven Railroad and later for the Board of Education in the Town of North Haven. Richard was an avid Red Sox fan.
He was the father of Richard (Debi) DeFabio, Donna( David) Canestri, and Kenneth (Susan) DeFabio. He was the grandfather of Alyssa, Michael, Eric, Jeremy, Jonathan, Andrea ,and Maria. He is also survived by three great- grandchildren. He was predeceased by his sister Marion Pochesci.
His Funeral Procession left the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Ave., May 4. A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated in St. Barnabas Church. Interment with full Military Honors took place in Saint Lawrence Cemetery. Family and friends called May 3.
