03/20/2015 12:00 AMWilliam Fasciano, 83, of North Branford, died on March 19. He was the devoted father of Claudia Jean Shosho and Sonja Elizabeth Glatzhofer. He was the cherished grandfather of four, Brooke, Cole, and Kate Glatzhofer, and Andrew Shosho. He was the dear brother of Janet Carey, Marie Fitzgerald, and the late Edward Fasciano, Robert Fasciano, and John Fasciano. He was the loving son of the late Alphonse and Dora (Giordani) Fasciano. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Bill grew up and attended Somerville schools, where he later taught, and was the high school principal and assistant superintendent prior to retirement in 1993. A fierce advocate of education, he held several degrees, a bachelor's from Northeastern University and master of science degrees from Tufts University and Boston College. Bill influenced many young minds and encouraged students to pursue a higher education throughout his career. He spent his retirement enjoying his grandchildren, and the beaches and golf courses of Cape Cod, Massachusetts, and Sarasota, Florida. In his last years, he was attentively and lovingly cared for by the staff at Evergreen Woods Health Center in North Branford.
A Funeral Service celebrating William's life will be held on March 23 at 10:30 a.m. in Saint Agnes Church, 186 Woburn St., Reading. Family and friends are cordially invited to gather and share remembrances with the family on March 22 from 2 to 6 p.m. in the Doherty–Barile Family Funeral Home, 11 Linden St., Reading.
