01/22/2015 11:00 PMDarwin T. Burtchell, 62, of Clinton, passed away peacefully on Jan. 19. He was the beloved father of Heather Burtchell of Deep River and Amy Ganion and her husband Richard of Ohio. Darwin was born on Dec. 29, 1952, in Tacoma, Washington, son of the late Harold and Arlene Parks Burtchell.
He is also survived by three grandsons, James, Andrew, and William Ganion, a brother, Darrell Burtchell and his longtime companion Carol Prowse of Killingworth, and a sister, Dayl Ethridge and her husband Rick of Plantsville. He was predeceased by two brothers, Dennis Burtchell and Duane Burtchell.
Darwin was an avid offshore fisherman; he also enjoyed motorcycles and sports cars. He was well known along the shoreline area as an experienced excavator, and ran his own construction company, Burtchell Construction. His true passion was partaking in his daughters’ sports activities while they were growing up. He also enjoyed traveling.
