Eileen Hansen Rossiter
Eileen Hansen Rossiter, 93, a longtime resident of North Guilford, died Dec. 17 in Guilford House Nursing Center. She was the wife of the late Daniel Leland Rossiter. Eileen was born in Branford on Nov. 9, 1921, daughter of the late Hans and Anna Mattson Hansen.
She was the loving mother of Daniel L. (Sharon) Rossiter, Jr., Nancy (Richard) Belekewicz, Susan (George) Curtin, and Joan Rossiter. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Gregory (Mira) Belekewicz, Geoffrey (Carrie) Belekewicz, Brandon (Myriah) Belekewicz, Chelsea (Harold) Nohle, Timothy Rossiter, and Stephen Grabowski; and eleven great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her brother Raymond Hansen.
Eileen was a very active community volunteer. She started at SARAH as a volunteer and became one of their first directors and teacher. She was also one of the first Meals on Wheels volunteers, a longtime member of the North Guilford Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary, the North Guilford Congregational Church Ladies’ Aide, King’s Daughters, along with volunteering for the Registrar of Voters.
The Rossiter family would like to thank the many caregivers throughout their mother’s life for all their loving care and support, including the staff and residents at the Gables in Guilford, the staff at Guilford House, and her many beloved doctors.
Funeral Services will be held on Dec. 22 at 11 a.m. in the North Guilford Congregational Church, 159 Ledge Hill Rd., Guilford. Burial will follow in North Guilford Cemetery. Friends may call on Dec. 21 from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Guilford Funeral Home, 115 Church St., Guilford.
