David Dixon Triebel
David Dixon Triebel, 63, of Killingworth, formerly of Guilford, died Dec. 11 in Yale-New Haven Hospital. He was born in New Haven on Jan. 18, 1951, son of the late George Sperry Triebel and Janet Martin Triebel.
David is survived by his brothers Allen G. Triebel of Ellijay, Georgia, and Harry M. Triebel and his wife Lynn of Guilford. He is also survived by nieces Sarah Lizee and her husband Garrett, and Jaclyn and Katherine Triebel; nephews Steven Triebel and George Triebel and his wife Camille; and grand-niece Dylan.
David served as an Airman 1st Class in the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in Iceland. He was an avid New York Yankees fan and loved books. David worked for Amtrak as a window teller at Union Station in New Haven for more than 25 years. After retirement in 2014, he travelled cross country to Glacier National Park and the West Coast. David was an active volunteer at Mystic Aquarium and at High Hopes Therapeutic Riding, where he logged 3000 hours since beginning in 2002. In 2004 David was named High Hopes Volunteer of the Year. He loved working with the horses and the children in the program.
Friends called Dec. 15 at Guilford Funeral Home, 115 Church St., Guilford. Burial will be private.
