08/19/2014 12:00 AMDoris Pearson Maikowski, age 92, of Centerbrook, passed away peacefully on the afternoon of July 16 at the Aaron Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Chester. Doris was the beloved wife of the late Raymond A. Maikowski, who predeceased her in January of 1976. She was born in New Britain on February 26, 1922, the daughter of Arvid and Hanna (Carlson) Pearson.
Doris was a graduate of New Britain High School in 1940. She and Raymond were married in 1947 and she worked at Essex Mills and the Connecticut Valley Egg Company. She last worked as an assembler at Whelen Engineering in Chester for 11 years, retiring in 1990. Doris was a member of the Deep River 60’s Club and the Trinity Lutheran Church in Centerbrook. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.
She is survived by her son Raymond A. Maikowski and his wife Patricia of Deep River; her daughter Joan Millette and her husband Roger of Essex; her grandson James Maikowski of New York City; and her granddaughter Jessica Millette of Newington and her fiancé Jesse Tucker. Doris also leaves several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by her sister Linnea Carlson and her brother Arnold Pearson.
A funeral service was held at the Robinson, Wright & Weymer Funeral Home, 34 Main St. in Centerbrook on July 19. Interment in the Fountain Hill Cemetery in Deep River was privately held by her family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Doris’s name to the Trinity Lutheran Church, P.O.
