Blaze 'Peter' Calabrese, 82, North Haven


Blaze “Peter” Calabrese, 82, of Clintonville Rd., North Haven, formerly of Randall Dr., North Haven, passed away June 9 at the Montowese Health and Rehab Center, North Haven. He was the husband of Celeste Parente Calabrese. Pete was born in New Haven on July 5, 1931, son of the late Catello and Maria DeLieto Calabrese.

He served his country faithfully in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War, at which time he attended Naval Aviation School. Pete worked as a meat cutter for many years, retiring from Shop-Rite; he also worked at the former First National Store and Montowese Meat Center for many, many years. He was a former member of the Barbershop Quartet in New Haven.

He is the father of Peter B. (Martha) Calabrese of Jacksonville, Florida, and Michael D. Calabrese of Clinton. He is the grandfather of Alyssa Calabrese. He is the brother of Angelina Rosabianco of Hamden, Anna Sagnella of North Haven, Andy Calabrese of East Haven, and the late Joseph Calabrese, Mary DeMatteo, Diane Costanzo, Connie Steele, and Assunta “Sue” Esposito. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.www.northhavenfuneral.com.

His funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Ave., June 13 at 10:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in St. Frances Cabrini Church at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery.
