05/16/2014 12:00 AMRobert A. Vegso, 89, of Mulberry Point Rd., Guilford, died in Connecticut Hospice, Branford, May 15. He was the beloved husband of Joan Talarczyk Vegso of Guilford. He was born on June 13, 1924, in Bridgeport, son of the late Louis and Grace Vegso.
He was predeceased by his first wife Emily Kohary Vegso. He is survived by four stepchildren, Cindy ( Dave) Tommaso of Branford, Joseph (Maureen) Talarczyk of Guilford, Richard Talarczyk of Deep River, and Jennifer (Jason) Howell of Guilford. He is also survived by a nephew, Gary (Elizabeth) Pagliaro of Stratford, a niece, Laura (Robert) Mazzadra of Milford, ten step-grandchildren and an extended loving family. He was also predeceased by his sister Grace Pagliaro.
During WWII Mr. Vegso served in the Army Air Corps as a bombardier in the China, Burma, and India Theater. He worked in the construction field for several years and later for the State of Connecticut as a principal management analyst, retiring in 1988. Mr. Vegso was a communicant of St. George Church and a lifetime member of the Indian Neck Yacht Club.www.guilfordfuneralhome.com.
Friends may call May 19 from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at the Guilford Funeral Home, 115 Church St., Guilford. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in St. George Church, 33 Whitfield St., Guilford, on May 19 at 11:30 a.m. Burial with Military Honors will follow Mass in St. George Cemetery, Hubbard Rd., Guilford.
