Thomas Harry Matus, 76, Westbrook


Thomas Harry Matus, 76, of Westbrook, passed away peacefully at Yale-New Haven Hospital on May 3 with his wife of 55 years, Ellen (Dlugolecki) Matus, daughters Jill and Molly Matus, and Molly’s fiance Lou Budney by his side. He was born on a farm on Green Hill Rd., Madison, to the late Harry Matus and Dorothy Stepanuk.

Besides his parents he is predeceased by his sisters Elizabeth Parmelee and Margaret Tucker. He will be missed by his dog Trinity, nieces Debby Lowell and Cindy Meggett and their families, and his friends. He enjoyed family vacations and gatherings, weekly breakfasts with his friends, his collies, bowling, and his swimming pool.

Tom was a mechanic his entire life, and was self-employed for the last 20 years prior to retirement.

The Matus family would like to thank the Yale-New Haven Hospital general cardiac, CICU, and nephrology staff, and the Middletown Davita Home Dialysis team for all their support and compassionate care.
