04/30/2014 12:00 PMDominic DeRosa, 93, of East Haven, passed away on April 26. He was born on July 22, 1920, to Nicola DeRosa and Antoinette Mauro. Dominic is survived by his wife of 67 years, Carol (Panico) DeRosa, and daughters Lorraine Maru and husband Anthony, Donna Calabrese and husband Jim, and son Paul DeRosa and his wife Carol Ann. He is also survived by two grandchildren, Marc Maru and wife Julie and Melisa Forman and husband Brian, as well as great-grandchildren Serendipity and Gwyneth Forman. He is survived by his sister Carmel Donlan of North Haven. He was predeceased by his sisters Louise Airone and Trofimena Giaquinto, and brothers Aurelio ,Nicholas, Alfred, and Vincent DeRosa.
Prior to his retirement, Dominic worked as a graphic artist at City Printing. He graduated from Whitney School of Art and was an accomplished artist. He also supported his church and local charities. Dominic was also a World War II Army veteran who fought bravely at Malmedy, Belgium, in the Battle of the Bulge as a Technical Sargent in the 825th Tank Destroyers Unit.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Vincent de Paul Church in East Haven on May 10 at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be at All Saints Cemetery in North Haven with military honors. The Clancy Funeral Home, East Haven, is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions can be made to the Connecticut Food Bank, East Haven.
