Rose Fiore, 99, East Haven and Branford
Rose Florio Fiore, 99, of Branford, formerly of East Haven, passed away peacefully on April 17 at the Apple Rehab, Guilford. She was the wife of the late Matteo Fiore. Born in Bridgeport on June 10, 1914, she was the daughter of the late Giuseppe and Alvera Borrelli Florio.
Rose worked for the former Caldor’s Department Store; previous to that, she was active in the needle trade for 30 years, having started the union. She was a member of the Atwater and Branford Senior Centers, St. Elizabeth Church Ladies Auxiliary, the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, and a 55-year member of the Recreation Club.
She was the mother of RoseMarie Zadrozny and Matthew J. Fiore. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by brothers Gennaro, Liberato, and Pasquale Florio.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on April 23 in St. Frances Cabrini Church, North Haven, with interment following in All Saints Cemetery. North Haven Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
