03/14/2014 11:00 AMThomas E. Maclean, age 77, of Essex passed away on Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at the Middlesex Hospital in Middletown. He was the beloved husband of Patricia (Elston) Maclean. He was born in Essex on February 25, 1937 the son of Archie and Ruth (Holmes) Maclean. Tom was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps. He was a carpenter and a member of the Connecticut Carpenters Union # 24 for over 30 years. Tom was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed duck hunting and being at home working in his yard and in his garden. He especially enjoyed being with his family and friends. Besides his wife Pat, he leaves his son, Thomas E. Maclean, Jr. and his wife Cheryl of Deep River, his granddaughters, Erin and Sara, his sister, Marjorie Grisky, of Chester, his brother, Robert A. Maclean, of Franklin, Maine and several nieces and nephews. Tom was predeceased by his son, James W. Maclean and his sister, Helen Maclean. Funeral services and burial in the Riverview Cemetery in Essex will be privately held by his family.
