06/25/2013 10:00 AMDonald Collier, 81, beloved husband of Edith Boyles Collier of Branford, died June 16 at Connecticut Hospice. Born Dec. 8, 1931 in New Haven, Mr. Collier was the son of the late Edward and Helen Collier. He was a sergeant in the United States Army during the Korean War. He worked as a foreman at SNET for 31 years, retiring in 1987.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his children Elizabeth (Ronald) Schmecker of Naugatuck, Donald (Kathy) Collier of Cookeville, Tennessee, Paul (Debra) Collier of Westminster, Vermont, and Deborah (Mark) Vinsen of Scottsdale, Arizona, six grandchildren, one step-grandchild, and five great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brothers Edward, Kenneth, John, and William Collier, and his sisters Estelle Werner, Marion Blake, and Helen Seebo.
Relatives and friends are invited to a memorial service on Saturday, June 22 at 1 p.m. in the W.S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 North Main Street, Branford. Burial will be private.
