Dorothy M. Sternberg Cheesman, 75, of North Haven died on June 10 at her home. She was the wife of Francis E. ?Tom? Cheesman.  Born in New Haven on July 21, 1937, Dorothy was the daughter of the late Frederick and Mariel Jensen Sternberg. She was a teacher for the North Haven School System for many years until her retirement and was a volunteer at the Diabetic Clinic at MidState Medical Center. She was the mother of Thomas J. Cheesman of Oakdale and his fiancé Joanne Connolly, and David E. (Ilene) Cheesman of Wallingford; the grandmother of Branden, Jacob, Kevin, and Andrew Cheesman; and the sister of Edward Sternberg of Weston,  Karen Sternberg of Hamden, and Linda Mathews of Maine.

The visiting hours will be Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue with a funeral service to be conducted at 7 p.m. with the Reverend Scott Morrow officiating. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 825 Brook St., I-91 Tech Ctr. #3, Rocky Hill, CT 06067.
