06/04/2013 10:00 AMMaria Perez Alvarez, 85, of Branford died on June 2 in Ledgewood 3, BHHCC, Branford. She was the widow of Manuel Alvarez. Born in Buenos Aries, Argentina, on Aug. 15, 1927, she was a daughter of the late Francisco and Carmen Caballero Perez. She was a communicant of St. Mary Church in Branford. Mrs. Alvarezwas the devout and devoted mother to Carmen Alvarez (Gary) Gunneson of Branford and Alexandra Alvarez of Branford; grandmother to Christian and Stephen Gunneson, Christina Buckanavage Alvarez and Gabriela Buckanavage; and sister to Isabel Vasquez of Queens, New York.
Her family would like to give a heartfelt thanks to the staff at Ledgewood 3 Rehabilitation BHHCC, especially to her "cookies."
Friends are invited to a Mass of Christian burial on Thursday at 11 a.m. in St. Mary Church, Branford. Burial will follow in St. Agnes Cemetery. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. in the W.S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 North Main Street, Branford.
