Marvel Satterlee Allison Gill, 81, Essex, formerly of Scituate, Massachusetts

Marvel Satterlee Allison Gill, 81, of Essex, formerly of Scituate, Massachusetts, died unexpectedly at her Essex home on May 16. She was the wife of 49 years to the late Richard Charles Gill. Marvel was born in Baltimore, Maryland, in 1932, daughter of the late Robert Ashcroft Allison and G. Victoria Britton.  She married Richard Charles Gill in 1955, and they lived for most of their married life in their beloved Scituate.

Marvel’s life was entirely invested in the care and nurturing of children, a task for which she was innately qualified by skill and temperament.  Beloved, gracious, giving, and wise, her loss is mourned by her family, friends, and caregivers.

She is survived by four children and two grandchildren:  son Richard Paul Gill and his wife Patricia and their daughters Allison and Natalie of Essex; daughter Jennifer Marvel Gill, also of Essex; daughter Stephanie Elizabeth Gill-Manville and her husband Timothy of Lisbon; and daughter Meredith Manson Gill Frenette and her husband Robert of Andover, Connecticut.

A memorial service will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. on June 6 at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 23 Main St., Essex.   The Robinson, Wright & Weymer Funeral Home, Centerbrook, is in charge of arrangements. Messages of sympathy and celebration may be left on the condolence log at the Robinson Wright & Weymer Funeral Home, rwwfh@sbcglobal.net.
