Cuthbert “Bert” Armstrong, 79, North Haven


Cuthbert “Bert” Armstrong, 79, of North Haven, died on May 11 at the Connecticut Hospice, Branford. He was the beloved husband of Prudence Peacey Armstrong. Bert was born in Middletown on July 4, 1933, son of the late Harry F. and Clora M. Devine Armstrong. He had served his country faithfully in the U.S. Army and had worked for the U.S. Postal Service for nearly 40 years until his retirement. He was also a member of the Hamden Fish and Game and loved animals, especially his dogs. Most of all, he enjoyed the outdoors, hiking Sleeping Giant and Peter’s Rock with his German Sheppard and vacationing in the Berkshires.

He was predeceased by his sister Mary Armstrong and his brother Harry Franklin Armstrong, Jr.

Relatives and friends are invited to meet directly at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Northford on Saturday, May 18, at 10 a.m., for a memorial service. Private burial will take place at the convenience of the family. There are no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Fidelco Guide Dog Foundation, 103 Vision Way, Bloomfield, CT 06002.
