Kathryn J. Asman, 61, Groton


Kathryn J. Long Asman, 61, of Groton, died peacefully on May 12 at the Connecticut Hospice, Branford, with her family by her side.  She was the wife of Carl J. Asman.  Kathryn was born in New Haven on Feb. 29, 1952, daughter of the late Timothy and Jean Ann Kyc Long. She had worked in Human Resources for ACES.  Kathryn also loved to travel, cook, and shop, but most of all she loved spending quality time with her family and friends.

Her family extends a special “Thank You” to Doctors Harriet Kluger, Paul Chapman, David Abramson, and Georgia Kelley for all the excellent care they provided to Kathryn.

Besides her husband, Kathryn is survived by her children, Allison Geaski and her husband Gregory of Hamden and Carl Asman and his wife Amanda of Lyme; five grandchildren, Gregory, Jr., Lauren, Kathryn, Emma, and Timothy; a sister, Carol Rienhardt and her husband James  of Dingmans Ferry, Pennsylvania; and her brother, Michael T. Long of North Haven.  She is also survived by her mother-in-law,  Therese Asman of North Haven; her sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Anne Daley and her husband Tim, Mark Asman, Matthew Asman and his wife Jen, and Christine Demir (wife of the late Ramsey Demir); several cousins; and many nieces and nephews.

Her funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Ave., North Haven, on Wednesday, May 15, at 9:30 a.m.  A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Barnabas Church at 10 a.m., followed by burial in All Saints Cemetery.  Visiting hours will be Tuesday, May 14, from 5 to 8 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Fund for Brain Metastasis Research at Yale Cancer Center, c/o Peter Lamonthe, Yale Cancer Center, 333 Cedar St., WWW 205, New Haven, CT  06520.  www.northhavenfuneral.com
