Richard C. Gray, 87, Branford


Richard C. Gray, 87, of Branford, died peacefully on April 29 at Yale-New Haven Hospital.  Mr. Gray was born on Jan. 29, 1926, son of the late Leon and Edith Gray.  He proudly served in the U.S Army’s World War II German War Crimes Unit.  Mr. Gray had resided in Westport for most of his early life, where he was a member of the Westport "Special" Police Force.  He also spent many years in the textile industry before moving to Branford in 1978.  He continued to work in security and accounting until he retired. 

He is survived by his daughter Didi MacKinnel and her husband Dan of Branford; his son David Gray and grandchildren Nick and Tracy, all of Florida; his niece Linda Hrycaj and family of Colorado; his dear friends Richard Kaczynski of Branford and Wendy Downs of Guilford; and his beloved dog "Foxy".  He was predeceased by his brother Neal Gray and wife Rosie; his nephew Kevin Gray of Westport; and his granddaughter Erin Gray of Florida.

Services will be held privately at a later date.  Gifts in his memory may be made to the Connecticut Hospice, 100 Double Beach Rd., Branford, CT 06405, or to The Dan Cosgrove Animal Shelter, 749 East Main St., Branford, CT 06405.
